Zend Amf Questions, Features, Demos, Bugs?

October 24th, 2008

Zend Amf is about to become finalized for the 1.7 release. This makes for a good time to figure out what people want to see next. Please post your feedback here if you have been using Zend Amf and need an additional feature to have it meet your needs. Some of the things that I wanted added are:

  • Service Browser
  • Authentication
  • AMFext

Flash Platform, Zend_Amf

    Definitely AMFext.
Authentication would be nice as well.

Wade. Code generation would be great as well. I’d be willing to help with implementation if you could point me to the how it was done files for AMFPHP.

    Service Browser (w/ stub code ) !!! :)
    then Authentication and AMFext

Push from AMF would be cool too – if it can be done.

Oh and how about some CakePHP integration :)
    (like a helper/controller/view ala CakeAMF)

    AMFext for sure!
    Code Generation for the win!
It seemed to never fully get implemented in AMFPHP and it would be great to be done here. Both all VOs and DAOs on both sides would be great.

I would LOVE you (even more) if you put together a nice MVC demo. Still not clear how to put this altogether with multiple services and such.

    Definitely authentication.

Love it as it is already. Personally I don’t see the need for authentication as we have Zend_Auth, Zend_Acl and Zend_Session. Browser would be great though. By the way, will the application I am currently working on and that implements Zend_Amf still be working with the final release without major adjustments?

  16. October 26th, 2008 at 22:21 | #16

Service browser for sure. Its been a life saver in AMFPHP.

  17. October 27th, 2008 at 02:29 | #17

    Service Browser + server/client model/object mapping.

  18. October 27th, 2008 at 10:42 | #18

@Bjoern the only changes that we are making are bug fixes at this time.

  19. October 27th, 2008 at 13:20 | #19

A fully secure authentification process. Could be with a private/public key system for example.

    hi guys,

did the service browser manifest yet? if not, what are my best options for developing/testing the services without using flash/flex?

I second Garth’s comment, integration with CakePHP (& AMFEXT) as a component would be great!

Am I correct in saying that the ZendAMF plugin requires the ZendFramework to function properly? If so it would be nice if you could somehow separate the two.

Data push from server will be great!

Integration with framework should be done by framework coders. (I’ll work on mine :P )
