Adobe Flash Builder 4 Beta for PHP developers

I am giving a couple e-seminars about some of the new  features exposed in Flash Builder 4. The examples are all going to be PHP but it the majority of the talk is on tooling. Come check it out and ask questions. It’s still beta so if you want something changed now is the time to ask!

Learn about the new improvements with Adobe Flex 4 Beta and how developers working with Flex and PHP are boosting their productivity by combining it use with Zend. This demonstration will show you how you can create a combined project with Flex components and PHP natures and reap the benefit of coding in both languages.

    Hey Wade,

Just finished off your seminar and I had a couple of questions that didn’t get answered (not sure if you’re the guy, but worth a shot).

I’m the type of person that does my application design all within Flash Professional, but all of my coding in Builder. Will Flash Builder be able to talk to FLA files for example for testing/building? I find it a bit of a pain to flip back and forth between programs after I’m finished designing just to press ctrl+enter.

Hello, this was a nice presentation, that shows a huge amount of work on php/zendamf integration with flex framework and eclipse environnement.
I’m using amfphp since early stages, not on a php developer perspective, but more as a flash/flex developer. I used it for drupal integration of flash dynamic content too. And now that i work mainly on flex projects, with loads of data and webservices, i’m very happy to see that your project follows me in my evolution… ;-)

The only point that scares me a bit in your presentation, is the amount of code the flashbuilder php wizards pastes in the views, and the amount of refactoring that will be necessary to follow a minimal separation of conceirns (i mean like using a mvc pattern on flex side)
But i can imagine that it’s just a matter of method to go from your examples to a clean flex mvc coding form…

    Thanks again
    Eric

@scott I am not sure the workflow answer but it is one I would love to know as we deal with it all the time at work. I would open a feature request for Flash Builder an outline how you believe it should work.

@eric I agree with your concern. The push back is always which framework is the right framework to integrate with, Mate, Caringorm, pureMVC, etc. There is a little work being done templating the stub code.

I saw some of this stuff at Dreamforce in the Adobe Cafe and it was killer. Looking forward to more.
